Why You’ll Love This Crispy Air Fryer Potatoes Recipe
- All the Flavor. Air fryer potatoes are a lot like Roasted Fingerling Potatoes and Roasted Red Potatoes in that they’re fantastic with just oil and salt, but they really shine when you add extra seasonings into the mix. Paprika, dried herbs, garlic powder, and optional Parmesan and fresh herbs make this side so delectable, you’re likely to forget about your main dish.
- The Ultimate Goes-With-Anything Side. Okay, maybe not anything (air fryer potatoes might be a little weird with Shrimp Pad Thai), but everyday proteins like Rosemary Chicken Thighs and Turkey Meatloaf pair well with seasoned potatoes.
- As Crispy as You Want Them. You have options! Like Air Fryer Potato Wedges, you can cook the potatoes until they’re golden and tender, or leave them in a bit longer until the edges get dark and crispy.
- Quick and Easy. Toss everything together, put the potatoes into your air fryer basket, and in 15 to 20 minutes (half the time of oven-roasted potatoes!), they’ll be ready to devour.

How to Make Air Fryer Potatoes
The Ingredients
- Yukon Gold Potatoes. I quite like Yukon gold potatoes because they’ve got a naturally buttery flavor, but any variety you like to use for roasting will work here.
- Paprika. This is optional; sweet paprika will mostly add color, but smoked paprika will add some extra shazam-shazam.
- Dried Herbs. Choose your adventure! Italian seasoning, rosemary, thyme, parsley, herbs de Provence are all excellent options.
- Garlic Powder. For garlic flavor without the bite.
- Optional Finishes. Parmesan, chopped fresh parsley, or chives.
The Directions

- Season. Toss the potatoes with the oil and seasonings in a large bowl.

- Air Fry. Place the potatoes in a single layer in the air fryer basket and cook at 400 degrees F for 15 to 18 minutes, or until the potatoes are golden brown and tender. Garnish the air fryer potatoes with optional finishes and ENJOY!

More Air Fryer Potatoes Seasoning Ideas
- Seasoning Salt. A classic! This works well with Parmesan and the fresh herbs, too.
- Truffle Oil. Skip all the seasonings except salt and pepper; finish the potatoes with a drizzle of quality truffle oil and chopped parsley.
- Creole or Cajun Seasoning. For a little heat. (Also delish with Air Fryer Potato Chips.)
- Lemon. If you’ve ever had Greek potatoes, you know that lemon and potatoes make an unexpectedly delicious combination! Top the potatoes with lemon zest and fresh parsley after air frying.
- Fresh Herbs. Dill, rosemary, thyme, and sage can be used instead of parsley or chives as a finishing touch.
What to Serve with Air Fryer Potatoes
- Meat. Meat and potatoes go together like… meat and potatoes. Serve air fryer potatoes with main dishes like French Onion Chicken, Honey Garlic Pork Chops, and Braised Beef.
- Fish. If you’re not much for meat, try Pesto Salmon or Lemon Pepper Salmon.
- Burgers. I make these potatoes as an alternative to fries with sandwiches and burgers. Need some inspo? I love this Vegan Burger for a meatless option, and Turkey Burgers during grilling season.
- Breakfast Foods. Who needs hash browns? Not you! Serve Fluffy Pancakes and French Omelettes with crispy air fried potatoes on the side.

Recipe Tips and Tricks
- Cut the Potatoes into Even Sizes. Otherwise, you’ll end up with some potatoes that are burnt to a crisp, others that are perfect, and the rest will be hard and raw.
- Give ‘em Some Space. The potatoes should fit into the air fryer basket in a single layer; if they can’t, cook them in batches. The air needs to be able to circulate around them to make them crispy.
- Shake the Basket. Shake, shake, shake the basket! (This must be sung to the tune of that Harry Belafonte song from Beetlejuice.) Shaking the potatoes a few times ensures even browning and crispiness. Once or twice during the cooking time is perfect.
