Fall Detection
Apple Watch fall detection is a feature on Apple Watches that can sense if you’ve fallen and summon emergency services if needed. It is available only on Apple Watch Series 4 and above. If you have a hard fall and do not move for more than one minute, it automatically calls the local emergency department for help with your current location. After calling the emergency department, it shares your location with emergency contacts.
To turn fall detection on or off, open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
Emergency Services
If you are ever in an emergency situation, you can simply hold down the side button of your Apple Watch and it will automatically call emergency services for you. It will choose the correct emergency services number based on your location, and once the emergency call ends, a text alert with your location will be sent to your emergency contacts¹.
To make an emergency call directly from your Apple Watch: Press and hold the side button (not the digital crown) until you see the Emergency SOS slider appear. Keep holding the side button until an alert sounds, and you see the emergency countdown begin¹.
