The following video presents audio excerpts from an actual Bay Alarm Medical call between our dispatcher and medical alert subscriber.
——————————-
What happens during an medical alert call?
During an emergency, the Bay Alarm Medical dispatcher will check the status of the subscriber. The dispatcher will come over the two-way speaker on the subscriber’s main device to assess what type of help is needed by the subscriber. In this video, the subscriber request paramedics be called because she cannot walk nor does she have help to take her to the ER. The subscriber is suffering from a non-fall related issue and was able to use her Bay Alarm Medical device to get help quickly.
In the case that the subscriber cannot be heard, Bay Alarm Medical dispatchers will always treat the alarm like an emergency and follow the protocol on your emergency list. Bay Alarm Medical default’s local 911 services to be called first, but subscribers can simply request others to be called prior to 911 (on the Contact Information Form).
The dispatcher will put the subscriber on hold and contact local emergency personnel. The dispatcher will not disconnect the call until with the subscriber until they know that help has arrived.
