In episode 496 of The Whole View podcast, Stacy and Dr. Sarah discuss the definition of electromagnetic radiation, the difference between ionizing and nonionizing radiation, and the biological and health implications of the wavelengths, frequencies and energy range of electromagnetic fields we’re exposed to on a daily basis, including low frequency, radio waves, and microwaves. The most important takeaway is that rigorous large-scale studies show again and again that these low-energy nonionizing EMFs do not harm human health (with a few caveats for certain types of high-level occupational exposure that Dr. Sarah discussed) and that animal and cell culture studies have revealed no plausible mechanism of action of harm.
